"A city on a hill cannot be hidden"
Our 12th annual City on the Hill Youth Leadership Conference will be held July 22-28, 2012, on the campus of Lancaster Bible College!
City on the Hill (COTH) is a fantastic opportunity for high school students ages 15 through 18 to participate in training designed to uncover God-given leadership ability.
New Attitude
In just the course of a week, lives are transformed by the renewing of minds. Attendees are encouraged and equipped to stand for truth against what the world defines as true. They hear stories from legislators, lobbyists, lawyers, educators and others that challenge them and awaken their imaginations to the many career opportunities awaiting them.
Last year's dynamic speaker lineup included Dr. Alberta Wilson of Faith First, Dr. Peter Lillback, author of George Washington's Sacred Fire, Dr. Paul Kengor of Grove City College, State Rep. Sam Rohrer, State Rep. Bryan Cutler, Pennsylvania Family Institute president Michael Geer, and others.
New Title
As the conference begins, what before was a group of young people now becomes a group of senators. Each attendee is sworn in and addressed as Senator. Each is given instruction, elect leaders, and introduce bills that are currently being addressed by the Commonwealth.
The real impact with becoming a senator is not just being addressed as one. Towards the end of the week, the senators will debate their bills in actual committee rooms and on the floor of the Senate chamber in the Harrisburg capitol (a rare opportunity that is rewarding and inspiring).
New Friendships
The senators stay on the Lancaster Bible College campus for the week. Through meals, activities, games and a trip to Hershey Park, students have made life-long friendships by sharing in the experience of City on the Hill.
