The Family Choice Scholarship Program
The Educational Improvement Tax Credit
Pennsylvania Family Institute’s Family Choice Scholarship Program is approved by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania to solicit tax-credit eligible contributions from businesses desiring to help families and children in Pennsylvania through expanded parental choice in education.
Under the Commonwealth’s Education Improvement Tax Credit program, these contributions allow the businesses to receive very generous tax credits and deductions, and help Pennsylvania parents choose the school for their children that best fits the needs and values of their family. FCSP receives the business contributions, and in turn, provides Pre-Kindergarten and K-12 scholarships using those funds.
The Family Choice Scholarship Program’s primary focus is to distribute scholarship funds to Pennsylvania students in grades PreK-12 in Pennsylvania schools from families with demonstrated financial inability to make the education choice they deem best for their children.
The program seeks to foster expansion of educational options and parental choice in communities and regions of the Commonwealth that are underserved. Under certain conditions, the Family Choice Scholarship Program will also permit business contributors to make general designations for disbursement of scholarships funded through their contributions, as long as such designations do not violate the goals or mission of the Pennsylvania Family Institute or the Family Choice Scholarship program, and do meet the guidelines of Act 2001-4 and the Internal Revenue Code.
